... improving decisions about majors and connecting programs to the world of work
CIS for Internet is effective in a variety of college and university settings, including career centers, life-planning classes, academic advising offices, counseling services, and programs for special populations. College and university students use CIS to set career and educational goals, connect majors to the world of work, locate scholarships, prepare to transfer to another institution, and find graduate schools. CIS is an important tool for career and educational planning for successful transitions.
There are two licensing options for colleges and universities:
- Campus-Wide Site License - Includes access to CIS for Internet for all student services and instructional programs of the institution. One-Stops and other programs subcontracted with state agencies (such as Corrections) are not part of the site license; they must have their own site license. Other programs such as Vocational Options and Talent Search are included. A campus license cannot supplant the need for a license in a school or other agency.
- Career Center License - Provides access for a single computer in the Career Center (or equivalent). Additional computers in the same center must be licensed separately. Online delivery is limited by the IT requirements of the college and will require an authentication method that limits access to a designated computer.
These licenses include the following CIS for Internet components:
CIS Information
Occupations, industries, job search, self-employment, programs of study and training, Oregon and U.S. schools, financial aid, and transfer policies.
Exploration Tools
The information sorting tools include Occupation Sort, Undergraduate School Sort, Graduate School Sort, and Financial Aid Sort. The formal career assessment instruments include SKILLS Assessment, Interest Profiler, and Work Importance Locator. IDEAS Assessment can be added for an additional license fee.
My Career Planning Portfolio
This personal career folder includes My CIS Favorites for storing links to and reflections about any information in CIS. My CIS Favorites also records the results of any of the Exploration Tools. My Career Planning Portfolio also collects job application and resume information in My Education and Work History.
